We are not your average law firm.
We always want you as a client to fully understand the choices, risks and issues involved in your case. We make recommendations based on our knowledge, skill, and decades of experience. But you make the decisions. Our job is to accomplish your transaction most effectively and/or to litigate your dispute so as to achieve the best settlement or win at trial.
From complex litigation to estate planning and probate, from real estate matters to criminal cases to personal injury and other lawsuits and more, we work closely with you to get the best results.
We’ve taken on some very big cases (click here to see the notice of the 1/29/14 Legal Education seminar we led about our landmark WWII-Nazi Era case). But we like to say that “All of our clients are people!” — not nameless corporate entities. The legal system is not always speedy, and we sometimes wish we were sorcerers with magic wands instead of mere lawyers, alas. However, we are confident you will feel your matter has been handled well.
Generations of people and families come back to us for a broad array of legal services because they know that our attorneys and staff really care about them. And other lawyers come to us with complex problems and cases. They know we do the job that needs to be done. And we provide effective planning that can help reduce problems in the future.
Marc and Paul founded the firm in 1982 after meeting at Columbia Law School. Paul was President of the Queens County Bar Association for 2015-2016 and remains on the Board of Managers. Our “senior partner” Benjamin M. Shaw (1912–2002) began in Sunnyside in 1947 and was president of or counsel to many organizations, including Sunnyside Community Services (for which we continue to provide pro-bono service). Ben was admired and relied upon by countless clients and civic leaders for his advice, clarity and wisdom. We are proud to carry on his tradition of compassion and dedication.
We encourage you to call. One of our attorneys will be happy to spend a few minutes with you on the phone to briefly review the nature of your problem or opportunity. If we can’t help you, we’ll point you in the right direction. But we probably can, so call us.
